The Ultimate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Cup operates on a single elimination system, which adheres the official rules and guidelines of the IBJJF - International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation rules document.
Any rule that is not explicitly mentioned on our web site and/or documentation is to be covered by the rules outlined in the IBJJF Book of Rules.
A competitor can win a match by submission, points, advantage or referee’s decision.

Changing position (Guard or Half-Guard to top - Sweep)

Passing the guard

Top mount position
4 POINTS
Control from the back (Back mount and/or Back Grab)
4 POINTS
Advantage is determined by aggressiveness, submission attempts, take-down attempts and superior positioning.
Points will be considered after 3 (three) seconds of control in any eligible point technique.

Medals will be awarded to athletes achieving first, second, and third place in each division.
Straight Ankle Locks are Permitted in these divisions.
Through Senior Blue & Purple Belts
Wrist Locks Permitted for Adult Blue Belt and Up Only.
Through Senior Brown & Black Belts
Knee Locks, Biceps Locks, Calf Locks, Knee Bars, and Mata Leao with the
Foot are legal in these divisions.
All weigh-ins for the The Ultimate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Cup will take place right before each competitor’s first match. Competitors weigh-in WITH THE GI ON. Please have a photo ID ready to present to the weigh-in staff in order to check your proper age and identity.
IMPORTANT! Each competitor only gets ONE CHANCE to make weight for their division. Please double check your registration before you hit the submit button to be sure you signed up for the correct division.
This is a sport with rules, and making weight for your division is part of the rules. In order to maintain the integrity of our tournament and the sport we STRICTLY enforce this policy. Please be responsible and show up to the tournament at the correct weight for your division!
The Ultimate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Cup will consider the competitor's age by the year the person was born.
Kids - 4 to 15 Years Old
Juvenile - 16 and 17 Years Old
Adult - 18 to 30 Years Old
Master 1 - 31 to 36 Years Old
Master 2 - 37 to 41 Years Old
Master 3 - 42 to 46 Years Old
Master 4 - 47 to 51 Years Old
Master 5 - 52 to 56 Years Old
Master 6 - 57 Years Old or Older
Female Adult - 18 to 30 Years old
Female Master 1 - 31 to 36 Years Old
Female Master 2 - 37 to 41 Years Old
Female Master 3 - 42 to 46 Years Old
Female Master 4 - 47 to 51 Years Old
Female Master 5 - 52 to 56 Years Old
Female Master 6 - 57 Years Old or Older
NO OPEN DIVISION FOR WHITE BELTS AND KIDS!!!
Blue & Purple Belts – you may compete ONLY if you qualified in
the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place of your weight division.
All Brown & Black Belts sign-up after your division is complete.
Only Juvenile Middle Weights and heavier who place 1st, 2nd
or 3rd in their division may compete in the Juvenile Open Division.
Kids with ages between 4 and 13 Years Old will compete Male and Female together, if necessary.
Kids with ages between 14 and 15 Years Old will compete separate Male and Female.
